Paul Wilkinson is University Lecturer and Honorary Consultant in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Cambridge. He carries out research on the epidemiology and treatment of self-harm and adolescent depression. This includes the use of complex statistical methods to understand links between risk factors, and intermediate pathways between risk factors and psychopathology. He is involved in thedevelopment of interpersonal counselling delivered by local authority family support workers for young people with mild depression and imagery-based CBT for self-harm. He also leads undergraduate teaching of psychiatry at the University of Cambridge and is medical education research lead at the university. In addition, he practises as a consultant child and adolescent psychiatrist and interpersonal psychotherapy practitioner for the NHS in Cambridge.
